Resilient Families

The project is here to support families who need a little extra help to improve their health and wellbeing. We aim our support at families living within rural South Lanarkshire who are pregnant and/or have children under 5 years of age.

The project will help foster resilience in families by:

P.E.A.C.H Programme

Includes various group work activities to aid with parenting skills, increase confidence and meeting new families. Within the programme is a fun, 6 week course that includes: Baby Massage; Play, Read, Sing; Messy Play; cooking sessions and Baby and Child First Aid.

We can provide intensive support within the home to aid beneficaries on their journey to becoming better at coping with everyday stresses. This includes arranging fire safety checks in the home, encouraging smoke-free homes and cars, cooking and establishing routines.

Family Financial Support

Money issues can be a difficult subject to deal with or talk about. Our Financial Inclusion Project Worker will assist beneficaries with understanding family finances and help access the relevant agencies to increase their finanical wellbeing. This may include signposting to relevant organisations, support to appointments, money saving advice, budgeting and assistance to or back into employment.

Other Activities Include:

Cooking Courses such as Healthy Bump, Cooking on a budget and Feeding the Family, Complimentary Therapies like massage and facials, Healthy Weaning Workshops, Weigh-To-Go (Post Pregnancy) and more!

The Resilient Families Project is only possible with the help of our fantastic volunteers. Trained volunteers can be matched to beneficaries and will assist them to attend healthcare appointments, community activities and to attend the P.E.A.C.H course. Volunteering with Healthy Valleys is a great opportunity to develop new and existing skills whilst improving your health and wellbeing by supporting your local community.
