Healthy Valleys regrets to inform its beneficiaries, volunteers, partners and funders and the wider Clydesdale community that the longstanding offer from South Lanarkshire Council to fund the development of a Rural Business Hub at Lanark Racecourse has been withdrawn.
Healthy Valleys chairperson John Dalrymple said: "In the course of a series of meetings with South Lanarkshire Council over the past few months, with Scottish Government officials also in attendance, it was made clear that the predicated funding for a Rural Business Hub is no longer available. We are disappointed by this sudden and unexpected news. We had been fully committed to the project and the decision taken was entirely outwith our control.
We remain committed, however, to sourcing an alternative facility from which Healthy Valleys' essential services can be coordinated, and sustainable new social enterprises developed. We ask our network of partners and volunteers for their understanding and patience whilst we do so. South Lanarkshire Council has offered its continuing support for our external funding activities.”
